Mary Ramey Potter Chapter of UDC Chartered

The Mary Ramey Potter Chapter #2678 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy received their charter in a ceremony on September 26. The chapter was chartered with 15 confirmed members and 5 pending.
Mary Ramey Potter was the daughter of William Ramey, founder of Elkhorn City, and wife of Richard Potter. Five of her sons fought for the Confederacy and survived the Civil War.
The new chapter will be active with local preservation efforts, maintaining Elkhorn City Cemetary and with the yearly Bushwhacking on the Russell Fork event.
